Terms and disclaimers
Terms of use
and disclaimers.
The terms that apply when you use this website, book a call or session, or use The Future Lawyer's resources and tools. Last updated 4 November 2026.
1. About these terms
This website and The Future Lawyer's lectures, programmes, coaching, resources and tools are provided by Rifat Sheikh, trading as The Future Lawyer, based in London ("we", "us"). You can contact us by email at [email protected] or through the enquiry form. By using this website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
2. Educational disclaimer
- Everything on this site and in our sessions is educational. It is not legal advice and must not be relied on as legal advice for any matter.
- The Future Lawyer is not a law firm and does not provide legal services. Rifat Sheikh is not a solicitor.
- Our courses are not an accredited qualification, are not accredited or endorsed by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, and do not replace the SQE, any other route to qualification, a firm's own procedures or professional supervision.
- Attendance or completion does not certify independent competence and does not guarantee employment, a training contract, a pupillage or any other outcome.
- All scenarios, examples and clients used in teaching are fictional. Students never give legal advice as part of the programme.
- "Signed off" or "verified" in a Skills Record means Rifat Sheikh has reviewed the student's evidence against the programme's criteria. It is not independent assessment or certification. A certificate of completion records attendance and completion only.
- Photographs marked "Illustrative image" are AI-generated or staged. They do not show real sessions, students or events.
- Results described for Rifat Sheikh's previous role, such as revenue growth and client retention, are his own professional record and are not a promise of results for any student or institution.
3. Regulatory references
References to the Office for Students, its conditions of registration, the Teaching Excellence Framework, the Equality of Opportunity Risk Register, the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Law Society describe publicly available frameworks as we understand them at the date shown, including proposals under consultation. They may change. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by any of these bodies. Each university remains responsible for its own regulatory compliance and reporting. Our programmes provide evidence a university may use; they do not on their own change a university's TEF rating, conditions of registration or outcomes data.
4. Tools and third-party information
The Practice room and the Firm reader compile information automatically from public sources, such as Wikipedia, Wikidata, law firms' own websites and news services. It may be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Always check the original source, which is linked beside each item. Firm names and trade marks belong to their owners; we are not affiliated with any firm shown. Links to other websites are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for their content.
5. Fees and bookings for universities and institutions
- Fees on this site are starting prices for the 2026/27 academic year and exclude VAT where applicable. The fee for your booking is set out in a written quotation and confirmed in a short partnership agreement, which take precedence over this site.
- Payment. 50% is invoiced on booking to secure the teaching slot, and the balance at the halfway session. Invoices are payable within 30 days.
- Fixed fee. Each fee covers one cohort of up to 30 students and is not reduced for lower attendance.
- Rescheduling. Either party may move a session with 7 days' notice at no cost. Sessions missed through Rifat Sheikh's illness or campus closure are rescheduled at no extra cost, or refunded if a new date cannot be agreed.
- Cancellation. More than 6 weeks before the first session: full refund. Between 6 and 2 weeks: 25% of the booking payment retained. Under 2 weeks: 50% of the booking payment retained. Instead of cancelling, you may move the booking to a later date in the same or next academic year at no charge. If we cancel, you receive a full refund.
- Annual Partnership. A 12-month contract committed in advance; the partnership agreement sets out the discount, scope and notice terms.
- Materials and data. Teaching materials remain our property, licensed for use with the enrolled cohort. Students own their Client Manuals and Skills Records. Cohort reports are anonymised, and extracts from students' work are shared only with their consent.
6. Students, graduates and coaching
- Coaching fees shown are starting fees, including any applicable VAT. Before you pay, we email you a confirmation setting out the option, the date and time, the total fee including VAT, these terms and the cancellation form below. Your contract starts when you accept that confirmation.
- Payment is taken by a secure Stripe payment link. Stripe processes your card details; we never see or store them.
- Cancellation. As a consumer you may cancel within 14 days of agreeing a booking at a distance for a full refund. If you expressly ask for a session to take place within those 14 days, you pay only for any part of the service already provided.
- Notice. A session cancelled or moved with at least 24 hours' notice is refunded in full or rearranged, as you prefer. A session cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, or missed, is charged, because the time was reserved for you and cannot usually be offered to someone else; we will waive this in exceptional circumstances such as illness or an emergency.
- Packages. Package sessions are used within twelve weeks of booking. Unused sessions are refunded pro rata on request.
- If we cancel or cannot deliver a session, you may choose a new date or a full refund for that session.
- Your statutory rights. Our services are provided with reasonable care and skill. If a session is not, or is not as described, you are entitled to repeat performance free of charge or, if that is impossible or cannot be done within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience, an appropriate price reduction, under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
- Refunds due under these terms or the law are made to your original payment method within 14 days.
- Coaching is educational. It is not legal advice, regulated careers guidance or professional supervision.

7. Calls and Zoom

8. Copyright and acceptable use
The content of this site, our resources, templates and session materials are © 2026 Rifat Sheikh, trading as The Future Lawyer. You may view, download and print them for your own learning or, for institutions, for internal evaluation of our programmes. You may not republish, sell, adapt for commercial use or use them to train another course without our written permission. You must not misuse the site, attempt to access restricted resources without unlocking them, or submit false or unlawful information.
9. Liability
We take care to keep this site accurate, but it is provided as it is, and we do not guarantee that it will always be available or error-free. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from reliance on educational material as if it were legal advice. For business customers, our total liability for any booking is limited to the fees paid for that booking.
10. Privacy
How we use the details you give us when you unlock resources, book a call or send an enquiry is explained in our privacy notice. We do not sell or share your details. You can ask for your details to be deleted at any time through the enquiry form.
11. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, except that consumers living in Scotland or Northern Ireland may bring proceedings in their local courts.
12. Contact and complaints
Email [email protected], or use the enquiry form or the universities call booking. We aim to reply within two working days.
Complaints. If you are unhappy with a session, a booking or anything on this site, tell us by email or through the enquiry form, with what happened and what you would like us to do. We acknowledge every complaint within five working days and give a full response within 14 days. If we cannot resolve it, you remain free to use your statutory rights, including through Citizens Advice or the courts.
These terms are provided for general information about how we work. They are not legal advice.
